MARGAO: The Gram Panchayat Development Plan should concentrate on children and women and be geared to improve health and education said Director of Panchayat Ajit Panchwadkar while inaugurating the Loutolim GPDP.
“Smooth roads is not development but having no drunkards on the smooth road is development,” he said and suggested that instead of planning for a good health centre it would be worthwhile to plan for good health so nobody needs to go to the health centre. The 26-member Village Development Committee was constituted on August 4, 2018 and within 72 days they have prepared the GPDP with Ramiro Mascarenhas as the convener. The VDC collected data through sectoral visits.
The draft GPDP was prepared on September 21; later, on October2, it was presented to the villagers at the special gram sabha and the panchayat body at its meeting on October 10, 2018 adopted the GPDP and was released to the public on October 14.
Besides the Panchayat Director both the BDOs of Margao namely Amitesh Shirvoikar and Milindra Velip along with the Medical Officer of Loutolim Primary Health Centre Dr Vinesh Gaonkar were present for the programme where initially there were some entertainment programmes.
