Voters of Constituencies to decide their representatives: Monserrate

PANJIM:  BJP Panjim MLA Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate said that ultimately it is for the voters of the two Constituencies—Panjim and Taleigao—to decide their representative, reacting to the news of two former Panjim Mayors wishing to contest from Panjim and Taleigao on the Congress ticket.
Babush’s wife, BJP MLA Jennifer Monserrate represents Taleigao Constituency. While former Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar, who had campaigned with Babush for the recent municipal elections, has expressed his interest in contesting from Panjim, the other former Mayor Tony Rodrigues said that his supporters have indicated to him that he should contest from Taleigao.
Given that both of these former Mayors were considered to be supporters of Babush, the MLA responded to the development in his typical style of using an analogy.
“Everyone wants to sit on the shore and fish and I personally want to see what kind of fish they get. Voters know who I am and who they are,” said Babush.
He also said that he wishes them all the best as everyone has the right to contest but reiterated that ultimately it is the people of Panjim (and Taleigao) who will decide.
It may be recalled that after the panel chosen by him had won the CCP elections earlier this year, Babush had claimed that he will secure all the constituencies in Tiswadi taluka for BJP in the upcoming Assembly elections and challenged anyone to prove him wrong.
