PONDA: Residents of Shiroda passed a resolution on Sunday demanding that conditions imposed by the TCP department should be waived off for the ST community applying for the Atal Asray Yojna scheme.
At a Gram Sabha, residents pointed out that though the scheme provides assistance of Rs 75,000 for house repairs and Rs 2 lakh for reconstruction of houses, the ST applicant is expected to submit documents, such as Sanad, Mutation or NOC of the land owner.
The residents claimed that many ST members could not fulfil these conditions as they are mundkars on the land and are unable to repair their age-old homes.
Sarpanch Sandesh Prabudessai said the panchayat had received around 81 applications to avail of this loan, but they had been held up for TCP clearances.
Other issues discussed at the meet included signboards on roads, construction of gutters, street lights on the Subash Chandra ground and repairs to the Nullah opposite Souza mill.
