PANJIM: On account of the Government failure to release health bulletin of ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has decided to personally meet Parrikar and inquire about his well-being. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) will also seek an appointment to meet the Chief Minister.
Addressing media persons on Monday, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar said that CLP will request Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for an appointment of Parrikar, who is currently recuperating at his private residence at Dona Paula. “Through four different memorandums we had requested Governor Dr Mridula Sinha to direct Government to release health bulletin of Chief Minister, who is head of the State,” he said.
“However, even today no proper health bulletin is issued. BJP and his office claim that his health is improving but there is no clarity. If his health is fine, then why is it that he is not attending the office?” Kavlekar questioned.
The CLP has therefore decided to personally meet Parrikar and inquire about his health. “We will demand that if not personal meeting then at least a video conference should be held with us,” he stated.
During the media interaction, Kavlekar called CMO for an appointment. CMO said that they will get back. Parrikar is ailing since mid February with pancreatic ailment. He was shifted from AIIMS, New Delhi to Goa on October 14.
Earlier speaking senior Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane said that being an elected representative, it is our duty to work for the people and State. “And if we are not able to work, it is better to step aside and delegate powers to somebody else,” former chief minister said responding to a question on whether it is right on part of Parrikar to continue in chair when is on sick bed. Rane said that currently there is no administration and everyone is busy doing what they want.
