Will challenge acquittal: NIA

MARGAO: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will consider challenging the acquittal of the accused in the Margao bomb blast case only after perusing the court order.

MARGAO: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will consider challenging the acquittal of the accused in the Margao bomb blast case only after perusing the court order.
Special Public Prosecutor, S B Faria said that his office has applied for a copy of the order passed by the Special Judge, NIA P V Sawaikar as
desired by the NIA office, Hyderabad. “We have still not received the court order. The order will be first despatched to the Hyderabad office of the NIA and then to the headquarters in Delhi to seek legal opinion whether to go in appeal or not”, Faria said.
Replying to a question, Faria said the Margao bomb blast case was based on circumstantial evidence, adding that the investigating agency did try to link the chain of circumstances leading to the blasts.
