PANJIM: Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) in collaboration with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) recently celebrated ‘World Youth Skills Day’ across CSIR labs to mark the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.

In this regard, CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Dona Paula organised a half-a-day interactive session for all the schools under its initiative, CSIR ‘Jigyasa’ which is a “Student – Scientist Connect programme”, meant to inculcate various skills in minds of youngsters.
Providing details about the event, Dr Maria Judith Gonsalves, senior principal scientist at CSIR-NIO said, “The students got an opportunity to visit various laboratories and got their hands-on training, learning about the zooplankton and Phytoplankton, they also learnt about different minerals present in rocks.”
“Students also visited the Marine Instrumentation Division where they were enlightened by the latest design in technology. The students later visited the Central Analytical Facility where they were explained about the working of various machine such as gas chromatography mass spectrometer and gas chromatography isotopic ratio mass spectrometer.”
AIM is Central government’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country developed with a vision to ‘cultivate one million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’.
