PONDA: In a fatal accident, a 22-year-old youth Adarsh Hegde died on the spot near R K weighbridge at Davlim, Farmagudi. The accident reportedly occurred on Friday morning.
It is learnt that while trying to negotiate a sharp U-turn at Davlim, Hegde lost control of his scooter and rammed into an oncoming tanker and subsequently came under the tanker wheels.
Locals on the scene blamed the Ponda RTO for the accident, saying the RTO failed to prevent parking of trucks on either side of road, which they said blocked the visibility of motorists.
