CALANGUTE: Albert Developers scored a fluent 2-0 win over CDJ Ribandar in the Goa Football Association Ilhas Zone league match played at Taleigao ground, on Tuesday.
Both the goals were scored in the first session of the play. Albert Developers started the match on an attacking note and pinned their opponents in their own half.
They were rewarded early in the game when they capitalised on a well executed corner-kick.
Harish played a perfect delivery to Ronil Azavedo who laid the ball to Joel Fernandes for a perfect 25-yard strike to give the lead.
CDJ Ribandar were totally outplayed by their opponents.
Though they had their share of moments, they couldn’t capitalise on the same. At the other end, Albert Developers capitalised on another corner-kick to further inflate their lead.
Once again a perfect Harish’s corner-kick was brilliantly headed in by Gaurav Kankonkar for the team’s second goal.
In the second half, neither side were able to score as the final score remained 2-0 in favour of Albert Developers. Albert’s Ronil and CDJ Ribandar’s Deepesh Sawant were booked for rough play.
Meanwhile in the Bardez zone league match, Pilerne Sports Club registered a thrilling 2-1 win over Saligao Sporting at Porait ground, Calangute.
All the three goals were scored in the final quarter of the game as neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first half.
After constant probing, Pilerne were able to find the mark in the 75th minute through Anson D’Souza. As the match entered the final ten minutes, it was a nervy encounter as both the sides played end-to-end football.
But a spirited Saligao team fought gallantly and managed to draw level in the 87th minute through Uday Naik’s strike.
However, Pilerne SC continued with their game plan with same vigour and within two minutes took the lead through Gary D’Mello.
