CARMONA: Ambelim Sports Club shot-out Varca Sports Club via the tie-breaker 3 -1 to lift the Late John Cruz Ferrao Memorial Cup organised by Carmona Sports Club, at village panchyat ground, Carmona, on Saturday.
Both the teams played an attacking brand of football but their strikers failed to convert any opportunity.
In the resulting tie-breaker Perrison Fernandes, Clens Pinto and Semson Fernandes scored for Ambelim while only Quellan Fernandes scored for Varca Sports Club.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 while the runners up collected Rs 35,000 plus trophies.
Churchill Alemao, MLA of Benaulim Constiuency was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to winners and runners-up in the presence of Fr Saude Pereira parish priest of Carmona Church, Allwyn Jorge, Sarpanch of Carmona, Fr Luis Pinto, club officials and other dignitaries.
