PANJIM: Goa’s doubles pair of Anshuman Agarwal and Nagesh Verenker entered the pre-quarter-finals in sub junior boys doubles, in individual events at the UTT 81st Cadet & Sub-Junior National & Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, at Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
Anshuman / Nagesh scored a facile 3-0 (11-8, 14-12, 11-7) win over Sarthak Gupta and Akhilesh Khajuria from J&K, followed by another impressive 3-1 (7-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-1) win over Telengana’s Ishanth Koride / Atharv Moghe.
The Goa pair will next have to battle it out against Ankur Bhattaerjarjee and Rudra Ghosh from West Bengal for a place in the quarters.
Meanwhile, twin sisters, Leoma Fernandes and Galya Fernandes qualified to main draw in cadet girls singles by topping their respective qualifying league groups.
In cadet boys section, Khushal Naik won his opening round match while Akshan Lawande, Aaron Farias and Fynn Gonsalves won and lost a match each.
