MARGAO: United Club of Benaulim showed great understanding and resilience to crush Dando Boys, Benaulim 5-2 in the Salcete Zone GFA 3rd Division League at St John de Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, Friday.
UC Benaulim led 4-2 at lemon break.
The highlight of the day was a brilliant hat trick by striker Cannut Fernandes. Benaulim dominated the game right from the word go but it was Dando Boys, who took the lead in the very 1st minute when Joel Pereira bulged into the net.
However, their joy was short-lived and a minute later striker Cannut who was in thick of action equalized for Benaulim with a snap shot.
Piedade Fernandes doubled the lead for Benaulim in the 19th minute when he received a through pass from Cannut and the former unleashed a volley which dipped in to the net.
Benaulim intensified forays and swarmed all over the rival territory. In the 23rd minute, Benaulim put the issue beyond doubt when Cannut dribbled past couple of defenders and punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Cannut produced the desired finishing in the 31st minute to complete his hat trick. Stung by the 4-1 lead, Dando Boys reduced the deficit at the stroke of lemon break when Abner Fernandes beat the rival goalkeeper with clinical finish.
Post resumption, Benaulim slackened their pace and played at leisure pace and did not allow their opponents any space to manoeuvre inside their territory.
Clinton Fernandes drove the last nail into rival coffin in the 52nd minute.

Panchwadi United Sports Club downed Immaculate Conception SC 2-0.
