PANJIM: CAC Sports and Social Club, Cansaulim registered a convincing 3-1 victory over Cuncolim Union to enter the quarter-finals of Prime inter-village soccer tournament at St John de Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim.
Cansaulim enjoyed more ball possession and surged ahead in the 12th minute through defender Jossito Dias whose free-kick went past rival keeper Sachin Velip.
Cuncolim regrouped quickly and restored parity when Saurabh Phaterpekar’s free-kick was connected by Sidroy Coutinho but the ball struck the crosspiece. However, winger Daulat Dessai reacted quickly and slammed the ball into the nylons. The joy for Cuncolim however, was shortlived with striker Peter Rodrigues restoring Cansaulim’s lead off a fine cross from winger Arron Fernandes.
After resumption Cansaulim exerted pressure and striker Histon Gomes took a through pass from Cadwick Furtado and shot past Cuncolim keeper Sachin to make the issue safe.
