TALEIGAO: An 81st minute strike from Vishal Adkonkar helped CDJ Ribandar score a narrow 2-1 win over Bhagwati Sports Club in the Goa Football Association Second Division League Ilhas Zone match played at Taleigao ground, on Friday.
CDJ Ribandar started the match on the front foot and deservingly took the lead in the 5th minute through Rohit Pilgaonkar. Once up by a goal, the play was restricted to more of a midfield battle wherein the players of the either sides would cancel out each others’ moves. Just as it looked CDJ would have an advantage at the breather, MAhendra Shivoikar came with the equalising goal in the 44th minute for Maharudra SC.
The goal came at the right time as both the teams had to start all over again in the second session. But the second half witnessed more of actions as both teams showed urgency in netting the match-winner.
Finally the winning goal came in the 81st minute through Vishal Adkonkar, which turned out to be the difference in the game, as CDJ Ribandar defended resolutely in the final 10 minutes of the game.
