PANJIM: CRC Chinchinim grounded Cuncolim Union 4-3 via the tie-breaker to advance into the last four of Cavelossim Panchayat Cup soccer organized by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Drunston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, Friday.
The teams were locked 2-2 at full time. Chinchinim started positively and made good use of a set-piece in the 12th minute as Domnic’s well-measured flag-kick found Jollin Pereira, who made no mistake to slot past rival custodian Tyles Rebello.
Cuncolim regrouped and found their rhythm with good short passes and equalized through Rayan Colaco in the 24th minute.
Subsequently, Chinchinim scored their second after Danial Rebello’s 25-yarder caught the rival custodian napping.
In the second half, Cuncolim mounted pressure on their rivals and Rosario Carvalho’s venomous strike leveled the scores.
In the penalty shoot-out, Jolex and Vicky Fernandes scored for Chinchinim while Tedlion Gomes scored for Cuncolim.
