DULER: Dempo Sports Club scored a well deserved 3-0 win over Dunes Sports Club, Mandrem in the GFA’s U-18 League match played at Duler stadium here on Saturday.
Dempo held the upper hand for major duration of the match, however the Dunes defenders and their keeper put up a firm resistance to deny them from scoring.
However their defence crumbled in the 42nd minute of play when Sherino Fernandes sent a perfect pass to Ivon Costa who got the better of the keeper before slotting the ball home to make it 1-0.
Dunes had an opportunity to reduce the margin in the very next minute however Anson Noronha saw his fierce 30-yard strike rebound off the Dempo horizontal bar.
Changing ends, Dempo SC once again continued with their domination and doubled the lead in the 65th minute of play when Larry Mascarenhas long range effort found no answer from the Dunes keeper, 2-0.
In the closing stages of the match Dempo further increased the tally through the boots of Sezwen Fernandes who scored from inside the Dunes goal area, 3-0.
