VASCO: The much awaited swimming pool project at Vasco would finally become reality as the plan for Federation Internationale de Notational (FINA) standard swimming pool in Vasco has been finalised, informed Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida.
SAG officials made a power point presentation to explain about the proposed swimming pool project at Maimollem field Vasco.
Goa Shipyard Limited has provided funding of about Rs 23 crores for the project which will be a boon for the youth and other residents of Vasco who were not having any such facility in Vasco.
According to Almeida, SAG will construct three swimming pools, one for diving, one for practicing and a racing pool in line with international standards as per the plan.
He said that all the  three pools will be constructed in a property of about 13,700 square meters.
He further said that there will be other facilities such as gymnasium, cafeteria, changing rooms filtration plant, administrative block and parking space for cars and other vehicles.
“I want to clarify to the people of Vasco that there was some delay in taking up the project, because of various obstacles including pending permission from TCP to fill the field and due to financial crunch faced by the government due to mining ban. Now we have obtained all such permissions and would like the people of Vasco to come forward and submit their valuable suggestions in the proposed final plan for the Swimming pool,” he concluded.
