RAIA: In an intense quarterfinal match of the Fr Agnelo Youth Inter-Village Football Tournament, St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda, defeated Parish Youth Nuvem, 6-4 via tie-breaker to advance into the semi-finals at panchayat ground, Avedem, Paroda, on Sunday.
The game began with Parish Youth Nuvem creating an opportunity in the 8th minute but Joywin Costa’s close-range attempt was thwarted by St Anthony SC’s defence. Despite a goalless first half, the second half saw, St Anthony SC’s Vitorin Fernandes break the deadlock in the 10th minute with a precise volley.
Parish Youth Nuvem quickly responded in the 18th minute, with substitute Shenoy Colaco equalising through a well-timed header from an aerial pass, forcing the game into penalties.
In the penalty shoot-out, St Anthony SC’s players including Joseph Fernandes, Velroy Colaco, Soldon Peixoto, Richard Fernandes and Vitorin Fernandes converted their chances to secure the win.
For Parish Youth Nuvem, only Inacio Colaco, Francisco Colaco, and Joywin Costa found the net.
