Junior football camp
PANJIM (HSD) — Following players have been selected to attend the junior football nationals preparatory camp starting from May 3. They have been asked to report to Lino Pereira and Mario Aguiar at Nagoa panchayat ground on May 3 at 7.30 a.m.

Chess for balwadi sevikas
PANJIM (HSD) – The Chess Activity Centre in association with International Centre Goa will organise their 1st chess tournament for balwadi sevikas on May 2 at The International Centre Goa, University Road, Dona Paula from 2-5 p.m. Sanjeev Gadkar, Director Women and Child Development and Chandrakant Barve, Station Director, Goa Doordarshan will be present.

All-Goa volleyball at St Cruz
PANJIM (HSD) – Crown Club, Santa Cruz will organise their traditional all-Goa Venceslau Gonsalves volleyball floodlit tournament from May 3 at Santa Cruz court. Twelve teams will be participating alongwith two outstation teams. The winners and runners-up will receive cash prizes worth Rs. 45,000. Individual prizes will also be awarded. The tournament has been recognised by Goa Volleyball Association.
Tie-breaker at Camurlim
PANJIM (HSD) – The Youth of Camurlim will organise an all-Goa 3-a-side tie-breaker football tournament on May 1 at Camurlim (Ambora) panchayat ground at 8 p.m. The winners and runners-up will receive Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 4,000 respectively. Tie-breaker at Socorro
PANJIM (HSD) – The Society of St. Vincent de Paul will organise an all-Goa 3-a-side tie-breaker on May 2 at 11 a.m at Socorro vaddem ground, near Remedies Chapel. The winners and runners-up will be awarded Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 3,000 respectively. Spot entries will be accepted.
GPL semis from Monday
PANJIM (HSD) — The semi-finals of GPL will be held from May 3 to 5 at BITS Pilani ground and Panjim Gymkhana ground.
The semi-finalists – Salgaoncar SC with 21 points securing the1st place, Goa Sports Academy, (13 points) 2nd place, Dempo Cricket Club (11) and Chowgule SC (11).
The semi-final between Salgaoncar SC and Chowgule SC will be at BITS Pilani ground and Goa Sports Academy v. Dempo Cricket Club at Panjim Gymkhana. The finals will be on May 8, 9 and 10 at BITS Pilani ground, Sancoale..
Fitness programme
PANJIM (HSD) – The Fitness Zone Gym, Caranzalem will celebrate its 2nd anniversary on May 1 from 5-7 p.m. at Caranzalem gym premises. Fitness activities like free body assessment and a body building competition will be held. Details may be obtained on 9890993683/ 9860038148.
Softball selection trials
PANJIM (HSD) – The Goa Softball Association (GSA) will conduct selection trials to select the probables for the State junior softball boys and girls teams to participate in the Junior National Softball Championship in Pondhicherry from May 24 to 29. The selections will be held on May 5 at Maruti maidan, Porvorim at 3.30 p.m.
Those below 18 years of age are eligible. Players have been asked to contact G N Havaldar, GSA secretary on May 5 at Maruti maidan, Porvorim at 3.30 p.m. alongwith birth certificates and three passport size photographs. Umpires and senior players who desire to officiate in the championship at Pondicherry have been asked to contact Havaldar at the venue.
Futsal coaching in Vasco
PANJIM (HSD) – Brasil Futebol Academia will commence its futsal coaching programme in Vasco on May 3 at 4.30 p.m. Those interested can enrol their names at the BFA. office at Agasaim or contact on 2217008 during office hours 9.30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. or at the venue at St. Theresa’s Convent hall, Vasco.
