PANJIM : “Play with passion, be focused and regain the prestigous National Santosh Trophy, the symbol of supremacy in Indian football”, exhorted V M Prabhudesai, SAG’s Executive Director at the interaction with Goa State Football Team, at Bambolim Stadium on Monday.
The team will be captained by Jessel Carneiro of Dempo Sports Club with Glen Martins of Sporting Clube de Goa being the Vice Captain.
Prabhudesai stressed on four pillars of Sports – physical fitness, skill, technique and tactic and mental toughness – to achieve laurels and that ultimate excellence could come through rigorous practice. He awarded three prizes to the players and praised that the head coach Sameer Naik was at one time a player who was part of Goa team which regained Santosh Trophy.
Churchill Alemao, GFA President, highlighted the need to display excellent team work and coordination so as to score and win. “Play well, score and come out winners. “ We have the potential and winning is what matters in the ultimate analysis. There is talent and all are skillful players who need to give their best for Goa,” Churchill said.
Meanwhile, Jonathan de Souza, stated that he had attended the Special Extraordinary General Body Meeting of GFA on Sunday as a Member of the Executive Committee and not as a representative of Dempo Juniors. However, he stood up at the time of voting since he was seated on the seat reserved for Dempo Juniors and as he stood up during “NO” vote, his vote was counted as a vote against the amendment , when actually he had no voting right.
