PANJIM: Crowd pullers Goa Police showed their class scoring a 25-18, 25-14, 25-23 victory against Saraswati Ponda and qualified for the finals of all-Goa Roque Dias memorial volleyball tournament at Santa Cruz court, Friday night.
Having won the first two sets in style, it looked as if Police would wrap up the third with ease, but Saraswati Ponda took the lead at 23-22 due to good lifting from Devidas and hard smashing by Sahil Satrkar. However, Police, with excellent smashing from Sarvesh, Kailash and Hemant along with deft lifting by Brijesh won the set 25-23.

The second semi-final will be played on Saturday night between KK Boys and Curtorim. The finals are slated for May 21.
Earlier, Saraswati Ponda defeated Samar Warriors 3-1 sets; Curtorim with superb performance by their experinced Raymond got the better of Crown Cub 3-1 sets; Goa Police had an easy outing with United Bulls Sanquelim 3-0 sets and KK boys brushed aside Friends United Valpoi 3-0 sets.
The tournament has been sponsored by the mother of late Roque, Maria Santana Dias.
