Goa Velha Sports Club were trailing 0-1 at the breather.
Goa Velha started the game on an aggressive mode but Corps of Signals goalkeeper Binu T.P came to his side rescue by blocking Oilex Olveira and Suraj Haldankar tries in the initial period of the game.
Goa Velha nearly broke the deadlock in the 15th minute when Oilex punted the ball to the far corner of the net but he was booked for offside by Referee Maria Rebello.
Corps of Signals adopted a defensive approach and occasionally made forays inside the rival territory and surged ahead in the 35th minute when striker Lalruata Fela received the ball from Roshan Singh and the former’s shot deflected from the rival goalkeeper Siddesh Morje leg and rolled into the net.
Post resumption, Goa Velha continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and gave torrid time to the rival defenders. Goa Velha’s equalizer came in the 51st minute when promising striker Joshua Vaz picked up the ball from his own half and beat the rival onrushing goalkeeper Binu with a clinical finish.
Corps of Signals retaliated and nearly took the lead once again but Suahalshot was tipped over by the Goa Velha goalkeeper Sideshr Morje.
After this close shave, Goa Velha struck the match winner in the71st minute. Suraj Hadkonkar, who got the pass from Joshua hoodwinked a rival defender inside the box and sent a deft placement to the far corner of the net.
Goa Velha continued to dictate terms and could have increased the margin but Suraj twice failed to beat keeper Binu from close range as his attempts went straight into his hands in the dying minutes.
Earlier in the first match played at 3MTR Ground, Navelim, All India Football Federation under-19 colts thrashed Youngsters Club, Chandigarh 5-0.
AIFF who led 1-0 at half time scored through Robin Singh (39th), Rakesh (67th), Prashant (68th) and Milan Basumatry (70th, 89th).
AIFF now meet Goa Velha in the quarter-finals on October 29.
