AGENCIES, NAGPUR: Goa’s former State champion, Sandhya Melasheemi, capped a memorable campaign by winning a triple crown at the Yonex-Sunrise All India Masters Ranking badminton tournament 2019 at Nagpur, Maharashtra.
Sandhya emerged triumphant in all the three events in 35+ age category group.
In the women’s singles, the top seed recorded a comfortable 21-14, 21-16 win over her doubles partner, Maharashtra’s Aditi Rode in the finals.
Later, Sandhya teamed up with Aditi Rode to secure a facile 21-8, 21-12 win over top seeds Yupu Boni and Shantala Kampapurmath in the women’s doubles 35+ final.
In the mixed doubles 35+, Sandhya along with her partner Varun Sharma from Chhattisgarh, seeded one in this event, registered a comfortable 21-14, 21-14 win over Pankaj Naithani and Aneesha Mehta to emerge triumphant.
