MARGAO: Immaculate Conception SC Paroda defeated Curtorim Gymkhana 2-1 in the GFA 1st Division match held at the SAG ground, Curtorim on Wednesday.
The opening goal of the match came in the 13th minute when Hanslum Furtado leapt highest to head in a corner kick to give Curtorim Gymkhana 1-0 lead.
ICSC Paroda equalised with a powerful header through Kanchan Keiro which banged the Curtorim cross piece and dipped into the net.
Hyginus Fernandes of Paroda curl shot failed to give any trouble to the rival keeper as it lacked power.
In the second half, Nelson Fernandes missed a golden opportunity. The attacker did all the best work to steer clear of the defenders and find himself one-on with the keeper but his shot just went wide when it looked like Curtorim had scored.
Curtorim’s Hanslum tested the Paroda keeper with a dipping volley that was acrobatically saved by Presley Masceranhas in the 60th minute.
ICSC scored the match-winner in the 81st minute through Manesh Oliveira from a free-kick.
