MAPUSA: Youth Club of Manora huffed and puffed before registering a 1-0 win over Dempo Juniors in the Goa Football Association Inter-District 2nd Division Play-off match, played at Duler Stadium, on Tuesday.
YC Manora now stand with four points, equal to Dempo Juniors who also have four points. The match took off to a slow start with both sides confining play to the midfield for major duration.
Manora almost took the lead in the 40th minute of when Dempo keeper Flezben failed to hold onto Darren Fernandes’s 35-yard shot, however the ball rolled out of play to the relief of the Dempo clan.
Changing ends Manora broke the deadlock in the 54th minute of play when Schubert Colaco’s header banged the Dempo woodwork and bounced back into play towards Ivon Costa who made no mistake to slot the ball home, 1-0.
