Shillong Lajong FC defeated Sesa FA Goa 4-2 in a thrilling Round III match of ONGC 2nd Division League at Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, here on Thursday.
Both teams needed an outright win to stay in contention for qualification.
Trailing 1-2 at the lemon break,Lajong FC stepped up pressure and succeeded in getting the equalizer and eventually helped by a brace from Saikohao Tuboi sealed the match in their favour 4-2.
Shillong Lajong FC made their intentions very clear and took an early lead through James Giblee in the 8th minute. Sesa also played a positive game and equalized two minutes later through Leslie Fernandes.
Sesa snatched the lead through Marcus Mascarenhas in the 37th minute. Samson Ramengmawia, however, made it 2-2 in the 50th minute.
Saikohas Tuboi made brilliant moves from the wings and scored in 58th and 84th minutes to seal the match for Lajongs and secure three points for the team.
With this win Lajong have six points from three matches (two wins and a loss).Viva Sports also have six points from two matches and they play Pune FC on Friday.
