MAPUSA: Jodric Abranches’ 90th-minute penalty saw Dempo SC hold FC Goa to a 1-1 draw in a boys’ U-17 I-League match, played at the Guirim ground, on Wednesday.

Both teams began the game with intensity, but it was FC Goa who broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Sangam delivered a precise through ball down the right flank, which was expertly crossed into the box for Joybud, who calmly slotted the ball into the back of the net to give FC Goa a 1-0 lead.

Dempo SC fought hard to find an equaliser and were finally rewarded in the dying moments of the second half. In the 90th minute, FC Goa’s goalkeeper was penalised for bringing down a Dempo player inside the penalty area. Jodric Abranches stepped up to take the spot-kick and converted with composure, securing a crucial point for Dempo SC with the final score at 1-1.
