GUDI-PARODA: Marina English High School, Verna shot-out Damodar English HS, Gudi-Paroda 4-3 via the tie-breaker to enter into the quarter-finals of the 2nd Ramnath D Volvotkar memorial inter-school football tournament organised by “Insight” The Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs & Charity of Gudi-Paroda and played at Gudi – Paroda ground on Tuesday.
In another match, St Joseph’s Education Institute of Chandor made it to the second stage of the tournament with a win over St Anthony’s HS, Veroda.
In the first match, St Joseph’s Education Institute, Chandor downed St Anthony’s HS, Veroda 2-0. Jason Costa gave the lead to St Joseph’s in the 23rd minute. Two minutes later, Sloawn Clemente doubled the lead from a header off a corner-kick taken by Davis Fernandes.
The player-of-the-match was awarded to Davis Fernandes of St Joseph’s Education Institute.
In the second match, Marina English HS, Verna shot-out Damodar English HS, Gudi –Paroda 4-3 via the tie-breaker after the match ended in 1-1 draw in the normal time.
Mysler Braganca gave the lead to Marina School in the 20th minute which was cancelled by Sohib Mohammad after a free-kick for Damodar EHS in the second session. In the ensuing tie-breaker, Marina EHS proved to be better shooters.
Ashvek Jadhav of Marina EHS was awarded as the player-of-the-match.
