Parish Youth, Nuvem downed United Boys of Dando 2-1 to sail into the quarter-finals of Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Boys of Benaulim at St John Baptist ground, Benaulim on Monday. Parish Youth led 2-0 at half time.
Parish Youth dominated the opening session with their midfielders and forwards working in tandem to put tremendous pressure on the rival citadel. Their continued forays paid dividends as they took the lead when Joe Colaco bulged the net from close range after receiving a through pass from Richard.
Rollin Borges doubled the lead seven minutes before the breather. He unleashed a stiff grounder to beat the Dando Boys goalkeeper after he received a wall pass from Jose Colaco.
Dando Boys played with purpose in the second session but never really dictated terms during the first ten minutes. They came close to neutralizing the lead but their forwards squandered an easy chance inside the rival penalty area.
With time running out, Dando Boys made a desperate attempt and reduced the margin when defender John Baretto moved upfront and found the net with a rasping drive.
Dando Boys again mounted pressure but could not find success due to tight marking by the Nuvem defenders.
