Salgaocar Sports Club Juniors defeated Raia Sporting Club 3-0 in the fifth pre-quarterfinal match of Casino Royale Faria Gold Cup soccer at Dr T B Cunha Sports Complex, Cansaulim on Wednesday.
Salgaocar went into the lead in the 12th minute through Merwyn Colaco who scored by flicking the ball past the goalkeeper.
After conceding the goal, Raia got into the act and began counter-attacking, but their forwards were unable to capitalize on the chances because of poor finishing and some good goalkeeping by Salgaocar.
After the lemon break, Salgaocar consolidated their lead through Merwyn Colaco in the 64th minute. Raia Sporting went all out to equalize, but it was Salgaocar who scored their third goal through Brian Mascarenhas in the 75th minute.
Presly Mascarenhas was awarded the man-of-the match prize for his brilliant show under the bar.
