MARGAO: SCR Galli defeated St Anthony’s Comba 2-1 in Custodio memorial Sao Jose de Areal inter-ward football league at Padribhat ground, Sao Jose de Areal, Friday. SCR led 1-0 at the breather.
SCR dominated the opening session and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids and their efforts bore fruit when striker Peter Gomendes bulge the net in the 10th minute.
Spurred by the early success, SCR galvanized their attacks but failed to increase their tally due to inept shooting by their forwards.
At the other end, St Anthony’s tried their best but failed to get past the rival strong defence.
Crossing over, SCR continued to enjoy the lion’s share of exchanges and doubled the lead when Steven Costa punished the rival goalkeeper with a clinical finish.
Stunned by the double blows, St Anthony’s went all-out and managed to reduce the deficit when Jerry Monteiro beat the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
