It was the Flaming Oranje who had the first good look at the rival goal but a rasping strike from Joyson Gauncar from outside the penalty box which rebounded off the post.
Just nine minutes later, Sporting’s Samuel getting hold of a ball darted inside the penalty box from the left and dribbled past the on-rushing Salgaocar keeper Utkarsh Deshmukh and shot at the goal which was stopped by Salgaocar defender only to find Aman Ulhas Govekar who was lurking nearby tap the ball into the goal to take the lead.
On crossing over, Salgaocar were a transformed lot and should have pulled a goal in the 52nd minute.
A rasping 25-yard shot from Ribhav Sardesai however sailed just over the crossbar.
While the Green Brigade did the attacking, Flaming Oranje doubled their lead in the 75th minute when Joyson Gauncar sent a through pass to overlapping Trijoy Savio Dias who coolly guided the ball into the goal to double their lead.
Salgaocar colts continued exerting pressure on the rival citadel and almost pulled a goal. A superb run and a cross by Chaitan Komarpant saw overlapping substitute Aaron Baretto a bit late to get his leg to the cross.
