ASSOLDA: Host St Anthony’s Sports Club got the better of Margao Sports Club by 4-3 to emerge champs in the 10th St Anthony’s Festival Cup inter-village football tournament organized by St Anthony’s SC, Assolda, at Assolda Panchayat ground, on Sunday.
Both the teams played attacking football.
The highlight of the final was a brilliant hat-trick by Sunny Fernandes for the winners. Cruz Gomes added a goal.
Rahul Fernandes, Samson Dias and Nicel Pinto were the scorers for Margao Sports Club.
Margao SC tried their best to find the equaliser but their strikers lacked sharpness.
The winners were awarded Rs 40,000 and a trophy while the ruuners-up received Rs 30,000.
PWD Contractor Piety Fernandes was the chief guest and handed over the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries and club officials.
