MARGAO: United Club of Nerul beat FC Sanquelim by a narrow 1-0 win to move into quarter-finals of North Goa Yarri Cup inter village football tournament organised by Saligao United, at Duler Ground, Mapusa on Sunday .
FC Sanquelim dominated proceedings in the opening session and enjoyed better ball possession.
The all important was scored by Raju after misunderstanding by the goalkeeper resulted in the ball entering the net.
FC Sanquelim squandered the easiest of chances when their forwards muffed sitters from handshaking distance.
At the other end, United Club of Nerul were far impressive but their forwards ran out ideas from close range.
Crossing over, FC Sanquelim too had their share of chances and looked to double the score however their strikers fumbled at crucial moments. With time running out, UC Nerul pressed hard for the equaliser but their forwards blasted wide from close range.
