STP Banrar get the better of Superkings

SANQUELIM: STP Banrar squeezed past SK Superkings 2-1 in the first match of the day-2 of the Sanquelim Football League match, played at Sanquelim Municipal ground, on Sunday.

STP started on a bright note as they came close thrice in the first three minutes but first Rajat Sawant failed to connect from close, while a minute later his powerful header off Muyeez Eilival’s perfect cross from the left. 
However, in the 25th minute, Rajat Sawant smartly made a lay-off pass to Muyeez who covered some ground before blasting it into the goal to put his side ahead.
The second session saw STP adding another goal to their tally through Muyeez who completed his brace after receiving a perfect through pass from Kasim Sawant.
Down by two goals, the Superkings coach brought on Scully John to replace Ravi Thapa and the striker showed his calibre within the few minutes after coming in as he reduced the margin with a fine tap-in from close after receiving a curling cross from the Siddhesh Tilnaik. 
However, it was too late for the Superkings to get back into the match as STP confirmed all three points from the tightly contested match.
Meanwhile, Verekar Brothers eased past Amhi Sakhalikar 3-0. Skipper Rudresh Mandrekar scored the spectacular goal in the 17th minute, while substitute Albaz Khan doubled their tally in the second session. 
In dying minutes, Sakhalikar defender Raju Abbigari scored an own goal to help the opponents to cement their victory.
