CAVELOSSIM: Tilamol United shunted out Varca Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to march into the quarter-finals of the Cavelossim Panchayat Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, at Fr Drustan and Wellington ground, Cavelossim, on Monday.
Varca Sports Club broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Klinson punished the rival goalkeeper with a neat finish.
Varca’s Nash Pereira doubled the lead when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snapshot off Varun measured cross.
Tilamol United pressed hard and increased their pace as rival defender Columban Noronha showed his frustration and brought down rival player Melvin and the referee Jose Dias without hesitation pointed to the dreaded spot and Elvino made no mistake in sending the rival goalkeeper in wrong way .
Crossing over, unfazed Varca SC went into attacking mode and Klinson cancelled the lead with a stiff shot to inflate their tally and also register his brace. Tilamol United regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and Melvin reduced the deficits.
With time running out, Tilamol United made a last ditch effort and neutralised the lead through Macklon’s header.
In the resultant penalty shoot-out, Tilamol United proved to be better shooters.
