MAPUSA: Tuff Laxmi Prasad Sports Club were a rejuvenated outfit in the second session as they grounded ten-men Sesa Football Academy 3-0 in GFA’s Goa Professional League, round four football match, at Duler Stadium, here, on Monday. There was no score at half time.
After a barren first session, which was largely dominated by Sesa, the deadlock was broken Tuff Laxmi soon after resumption through Prajot Naik. Mackroy Peixoto then converted a penalty as Sesa keeper Reagan Juliao received a second yellow card followed by the inevitable red card. Alvito Miranda headed in the third to complete the rout.
Laxmi Prasad created the first threat when Marcus Mascarenhas set up Freiman Peixoto inside the box but the latter saw his close ranger hit the side netting.
At the other end, Sesa were getting into a rhythm and Alber Gonsalves delivered a perfect cross to unmarked Yogesh Kadam, who however headed wide.
Subsequently, Yogesh had another opportunity but the striker’s effort sailed inches over after skipper Girish Naik had done the spade work.
Post resumption, Laxmi Prasad crawled their way back into the match. They broke the deadlock through an unlikely source. Prajot’s 40-yard long ball evaded both, his strikers as well as the rival defender and took an uneven bounce in front of keeper Reagan and rolled into the back of the net, 1-0.
Tuff Laxmi welcomed the unlikely goal and carried with the same promise. Minutes later, they could have added another but Marcus’ volley missed the target from close.
However, midway, keeper Reagan received his second yellow card for bringing down Alvito inside the danger zone and match referee Elvis Simoes showed the inevitable red card to the keeper. Mackroy Peixoto stepped up for the resultant spot-kick and converted with cool past Sesa’s substitute custodian Thockchom Singh.
In the final minutes, Alvito sealed three points as he headed in off a Valerio Rodrigues free-kick.
