Sesa FA Juniors hammer Sangolda Lightning

MARGAO: United Club of Telaulim (UCT) played true to their promise as they downed Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda 2-0 to pick up their fourth successive win in Salcete Zone GFA Second Division Football League at Curtorim ground, Thursday. There was no score at the lemon break .
The teams displayed listless football especially in the opening session and missed a couple of scoring chances.
Fr Agnelo had a golden chance to surge ahead in the 10th minute but striker Patrick Lima with only UCT goalkeeper Sachin Ashtekar at his mercy, blasted wide.
At the other end, UCT took time to settle down and once they struck rhythm they called the shots against the rival citadel.
After the changeover, UCT looked lively and dangerous with striker Paxton Gomes breaking the deadlock in the 49th minute when he slotted past rival goalkeeper Andrew Dias off a pass from promising winger Daulat Dessai.
Spurred by the early success, UCT intensified their forays and nearly doubled the lead but Rovel Gomes spurned an easy chance with rival goalkeeper at his mercy off a Xavier Luis pass.
Stung by the setback, Fr Agnelo nearly found the equalizer but Patrickj Lima shot wide from close range.
Midway in the second half, UCT kept attacking but alert central defender Pascoal Fernandes avoided further damage.
In the 80th minute, Fr Agnelo nearly restored parity but UCT goalkeeper Sachin Ashtekar effected a super save to deny Pascoal Fernandes.
UCT doubled the lead in the 87th minute when Joel Niasso punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement off Paxton Gomes’ well measured cross.
Down 0-2, Fr Agnelo nearly reduced the deficit late in the second half but striker Ramchandra Gaonkar’s try was blocked by UCT goalkeeper Sachin Ashtekar.
With this win, United Club of Telaulim collected 12 points to stay at the top of the table from 4 matches. Fr Agnelo have four points from four matches.
In other matches, Dempo Jrs scored a solitary goal win over Carambolim SC and Sesa FA Jrs routed Sangolda Lightning Club 5-0.
