MARGAO: United Club of Utorda blanked Rosman Cruz Sports Club 2-0 to romp into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Davorlim Soccer Cup inter-village football tournament, organized by Sporting Club of Davorlim, at Panchayat ground, Davorlim, Thursday.
United Club of Utorda led 1-0 at half time.
Utorda dominated the game and troubled the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. After couple of spurning chances, Utorda broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when striker Flyod Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot.
Confident Utorda later intensified their attacks but could not score due to inept shooting by their forwards.
At the other hand, Rosman Cruz Sports Club were struggling and hardly made an impact on the rival citadel as they failed to function as a cohesive unit.
Post resumption, a lot was expected from Rosman Cruz Sports Club but they were jaded lot as they were struggling to contain the rival rampaging forwards.
Midway in the second session, Utorda intensified their forays and kept their opponents on the back foot. Utorda doubled the lead when Naveen Mendes bulge the net from close range.
Down by 0-2, Rossman Cruz Sports Club went all out but failed to get past the rival rearguard.
