VARCA: Vasco Veterans blanked Excel Rovers Veterans 2-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the 1st All Goa Veterans Soccer organised by Texas Boy’s Varca, at Varca football ground, on Sunday.
Vishal Pednekar’s cross from the right flank was well placed by Krishna Shirodkar to give Vasco Veterans the lead.
In the second half, Vishant Pednekar’s long pass to Caitan Gomes who dribbled past Francis Souza of Excel Rovers Veterans and took a cross which was well connected by Salvador Carvalho to make it 2-0 for Vasco Veterans.
Excel Rovers mounted lot of pressure but all their efforts were in vain as Vasco defence stood like a rock.
Anthony Fernandes of Excel Rovers Veterans was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match award.
