Vinod Kambli’s health condition has once again raised concern, with reports suggesting that the former India cricketer is at risk of a brain stroke. Over the past few years, Kambli has been struggling with multiple medical issues and was hospitalised last year after suffering from cramps and a urinary infection.
As per reports, Kambli’s friend Marcus Couto has created a WhatsApp group that includes several former cricketers, including Sachin Tendulkar, to provide financial and emotional support for his treatment. Members of the group have been contributing towards his medical expenses.
Couto stated that although Kambli’s memory condition has remained stable in the last six months, doctors have warned about serious future risks. He also mentioned that Kambli has stopped drinking but still smokes occasionally, which is further harming his health.
According to his friend, Kambli has been seen requesting cigarettes from people around him, including auto drivers, which has raised concern among those close to him. Doctors reportedly believe that the habit could severely impact his brain health.
Kambli was earlier admitted to hospital in December due to complications from a urinary infection and cramps, and was discharged in early January after treatment in Thane.
The former batter has faced long-term health issues and previously underwent two heart surgeries in 2013 with help from Sachin Tendulkar. Since then, several former cricketers and foundations have stepped in to support his treatment and living expenses.
