Police custody of Kherudi extended further

VASCO: The JMFC, Vasco extended by a day the police custody of Mudassir Kherudi, who allegedly murdered a 72-year-old taxi driver in Chicalim.
The Vasco police produced Mudassir (25) before the Magistrate with a request to extend his remand by seven days. Mudassir, however, argued that he did not have legal aid. The JMFC directed the police to produce him in court on Saturday in order to provide him legal aid, thus extending his police remand by a day.
Mudassir alleged murdered tourist taxi-driver Dharma Patekar with a knife at Chicalim before fleeing in the vehicle.
 He tried to flee from the State in a Bengaluru-bound bus on April 23, but was nabbed by a police team from Panjim who identified him, sitting on the last seat of the bus by the bandage he had around his injured hand, which he had got treated at GMC after dumping the He was taken to the Panjim police
