PANJIM: State Health Secretary Ravi Dhawan chaired a high-level meeting of the State Level Committee for Vector-Borne Diseases and the State Task Force for Malaria Elimination, on Tuesday.
At the this meeting, situation in the State as far as the risk for vector-borne diseases including malaria and the steps taken by the government to curb the potential spread of the same, were assessed. Directions were also issued on implementing wide-spread precautionary measures.

This comes against the backdrop of circulars issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) to health centres and government hospitals about detection of such cases and recommended testing methods.
Health centres were also tasked in conducting surveys in the area to check for the rise in any such cases or if cases of fever were actually malaria or dengue, given the heavy rains witnessed in the State, especially in rural talukas that were flooded recently.
