PANJIM: The State government has accepted the recommendation of the Lokayukta in the multi-crore beach cleaning scam, which had suggested that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) should reopen the case involving former Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday said the government has accepted the recommendations of the Lokayukta in the beach cleaning scam. “We have taken the decision to accept the recommendations of the Lokayukta,” he told media persons.
He said the Lokayukta office will be informed about the government’s decision for further action.
The government is likely to ask ACB to re-open the case.
In September the Lokayukta had submitted its report to the government recommending
handing over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), within the stipulated period of three months.
Lokayukta had found the then tourism minister Dilip Parulekar guilty of “favouritism”, besides other irregularities in the beach cleaning.
“The ACB should reopen the investigation particularly keeping in view the possibility of conspiracy and any kickback,” the Lokayukta order had stated.
The order was issued in a complaint filed by social activist Adv Aires Rodrigues.
