MAPUSA: In the biggest single drugs seizure by Goa Police in recent times the Calangute Police led by PI Nolasco Raposo upon specific information raided a rented premises at Ximer, Candolim and apprehended a Nigerian National, Ifeanyi Pascoel Obi @ Alex with approximately Rs 3 crore worth of drugs on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old accused was held with a variety of substance suspected to be drugs around 1.021 kg of Cocaine, 2.035 kg MDMA, 760 gms of Amphetamine, 106 gms Charas, 1.270 kg ganja and cash amount of Rs 2 lakh which was also found at his premises in Room No 110 situated on the first floor at Ximer, Candolim.
An offence stands registered at Calangute Police Station under section 21(c), 22 (c), 20 (b) (ii) (B) and 20(b)(A) of the NDPS Act.
The Goa Police is committed to zero tolerance towards drugs and their determination to put a check on drugs and drug peddlers will continue. The accused person is arrested in this case and presently in police custody.
The accused person was earlier convicted in an overstaying case booked at Calangute Police station in the year 2011. He was also booked in the 2012 by Calangute Police for possessing cocaine and the said case is pending for trial.
The other members of the raiding team were PSI Laxi Amonkar, L/PSI Pragati Malik, Police Constables Vinay Srivastav, Shasank Sakhalkar, Mhableshwar Sawant, Suresh Naik, Smital Bandekar, Sanjyot Kerkar, Govind FatnIk, Rajesh Parsekar, Manoj Naik, Mahendra Chari, Babuso Salgaonkar, Yogesh Kholkar, Laxman Mandrekar, Dinesh Morajkar, Shailesh Gadekar.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Porvorim, Edwin Colaco and SP North, Utkrisht Prasoon.
