PANJIM: Union Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik has requested the State government to compensate the flood affected people before the Ganesh Chaturthi early next month.
Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference to announce the recruitment drive by Indian Air Force, the Union minister said he had also urged people to not built structures in such vulnerable places.
“I have requested the State government to release compensation to the flood affected people/families before Ganesh Chaturthi. This fund will be from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” he said.
Naik said he would also approach the Centre seeking release of funds, once the report from the North Collector is submitted to the government.
“I will go to the Centre on the very same day when the report on the damage due to floods is submitted to the State,” he stated.
