The National Student Union Leader (NSUI) President Sunil Kawathankar alleged that Crime Branch sleuths move to summon him in the drug nexus probe was ‘a mental torture.’
Kawathankar appeared before the investigating team in the Crime Branch office at Dona Paula where he was quizzed for almost an hour. He was served summons on Monday.
Emerging out of the interrogation room, he interacted with media persons alleging he was asked baseless questions like origin of drugs coming into the State, names of drug dealers and basis on which he alleged links between drugs and terrorism, etc.
“It is a mental torture…police came to my place with summons was basically to pressurise me against my signature campaign,” he condemned.
The student party wing president will be leaving for Delhi shortly to participate in the NSUI convention on July 15 where he will hand over the signatures to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and All India Congress Committee General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
“I will intensify the signature campaign and nothing will disrupt my campaign against the case probe, which is maligning the image of Goa,” he said.
He left no opportunity to bitterly criticise the Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Salgaonkar alleging the officer himself is a drug dealer and is involved in the nexus.
“I told them (interrogating officer) that DySP Salgaonkar himself is a drug dealer and carries out dealings with drug dealers in Goa. The police should raid his house,” he further said.
