Mickky discharged from Hospicio

Former Tourism Minister Mickky Pacheco was on Thursday evening discharged by Hospicio hospital after the Goa Medical College told him to come to the OPD for a check-up after a week.
Based on the GMC report and its own examination of the former minister, Hospicio doctors had no option than to give Pacheco a discharge this evening before his arrest by the police.
The former tourism minister was examined by a team of doctors on Thursday noon after he was referred by Hospicio hospital for management of his hypertension and jaundice.
At the GMC, he was examined by the casualty officer, followed by the urologist and then by a medicine consultant. Sources informed that after his examination, GMC doctors told Pacheco to come to the hospital OPD after a week before referring him back to Hospicio hospital.
A Hospicio doctor said the remark by the GMC doctors asking Pacheco to come to the OPD after a week was a clear indication that he is fit for discharge. “It was only after we received the GMC report and our own examination of Pacheco by Dr Eddie De Mello, he was finally given a discharge,” a doctor said.
It is learnt that Hospicio doctors gave a letter to the police this evening that Pacheco is fit for a discharge based on the GMC report.
Earlier in the day, Pacheco was taken in an ambulance to GMC for his medical examination. Hospicio doctors said the decision to refer Pacheco to GMC was taken suo moto, apparently in view of doubts raised by the Sessions Court on the medical certificates and reports while rejecting his bail application.
Acting Medical Superintendent Dr P D Nasnodkar, however, said that Hospicio referred Pacheco to the GMC as the hospital physician thought that the former minister could receive better treatment for hypertension and jaundice from the battery of senior consultants.
“There was a letter from the Crime Branch to intimate the investigating agency before discharging Pacheco from the hospital. The CB wanted to know whether the patient is fit for police custody or not. Our Physician thought that these questions whether Pacheco is fit for police custody would be answered better if he was referred to the GMC, where many tests could be conducted and the patient could be attended to by the senior consultants,” Dr Nasnodkar said.
Given Pacheco’s medical history since his admission on Saturday, Dr Nasnodkar said the former minister was referred to the hospital as a case of hypertension and Hepatitis. “Our investigations show his serum urine as been going up since his admission. The many tests conducted showed that Pacheco’s blood pressure is fluctuating.
