Goa girls and boys sailed into the finals of 17th National Junior Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at Rangers College ground, Dehradun on Tuesday.
In the first match, Goa beat Bihar by 8 wickets. Batting first, Bihar scored 44 runs for 2 wickets in 8 overs. Sharmila and Manisha claimed one wicket each for Goa.
Goa achieved the required 45 runs in 3.1 overs, backed by a wonderful innings of Bhakti Gaonkar (18) and Dhanashri Naik (17).
In the second match, Goa routed All-India Industrial Corporation. In their first innings, Industrial Corp scored 65 runs in 8 overs. Manisha, Ruby and Dhanashri took a wicket each for Goa. In reply, Goa cracked 68 runs in 6.1 overs. Sharmila and Bhakti scored 26 and 15 runs respectively.
In the first boys match, Goa beat Rajasthan. Batting first, Rajasthan scored 59 for 8 in 8 overs. Tekbahadur claimed 1 wicket, while Rohil took 2 wickets for Goa.
In reply, Goa registered 60 in 7.1 overs. A superb partnership between Akshay Madkaikar (24) and Saeesh (16 not out) helped Goa to beat Rajasthan.
In the second match, Goa defeated Pondichery. Pondicherry scored 32 in 5.5 overs. Sarvesh Gawde and Tekbahadur claimed 2 wickets each. Goa achieved their target in just 5 overs.
Goa, in the semis, beat Vidharba by 6 wickets. Vidharba 56 in 8 oevrs. Sharmila and Manisha one each. Goa scored the required runs in 5 overs. Sharmila 18, Dhanashree Naik 18.
The boys beat Delhi. Delhi 14 in 5 overs. Amey, Tek, Rohil 2 each. Goa scored the required runs in 2.1 overs with Akshay scoring 6.
