RAIA: In a gripping quarterfinal clash of the 1st Fernando Abranches Memorial Trophy 2025, Guardian Angel Sports Club defeated Curtorim Gymkhana, 4-2, in a penalty shootout to secure a place in the semi-finals, at the Verna Panchayat ground.
Guardian Angel took an early lead in the 10th minute through Reagan Costa, but a defensive mishap resulted in a self-goal, allowing Curtorim Gymkhana to equalise before halftime.
The second half saw both teams battling fiercely, creating opportunities but failing to convert, leading to a penalty shootout.
In the tie-breaker, Guardian Angel’s Fedrich, Glesson, Adriano and Reagan successfully converted their penalties, while Curtorim’s Fredy and Floyd found the net.
Rayan Menezes of Guardian Angel SC was awarded the star of the match by Anthony Rodrigues, former Verna player and UC Verna executive member.
