BICHOLIM: A four-wheeler parked in Bicholim market on Sunday raised several eye brows, not because it was parked in the area meant for two-wheelers, but the vehicle belonged to the RTO.
And the visitors to the market raise eyebrows when they noticed an RTO vehicles parked in the space allotted for two-wheelers.
Traders in the market say that it is common to notice four-wheelers parked in the pace allotted for two-wheelers in the market. “Some shopkeepers and customers at times park their four-wheelers at the place allotted for two-wheelers and the authorities have no control over the situation,” a trader said.
To add to this, the municipality itself has allowed a bhelpuri kiosk to operate in the parking lot since last several years. Today the people were in for a surprise when they saw that an RTO jeep was parked, since morning at the same place.
Space for parking four-wheelers has also been allotted in the market. Even though it is not demarcated, most of the market goers park their four-wheelers there. Today being a Sunday, the four-wheeler parking space was almost empty, but still the RTO jeep was parked in the market right under the sign board of two-wheeler parking.
Photos of the RTO vehicle went viral on Facebook and other social media.
“We wonder whether only we have the rules and the authorities can break them,” a teacher expressed his anger. “If this parking is for two- wheelers, no four-wheeler should be allowed to park here; even the bhelpuri stalls should not be allowed to operate here,” he added.
People feel that the traffic cell is busy issuing only challans to those not wearing helmet, but not bothered about wrong parking.
